Why not try something new this year?!
Our training band is very friendly and supportive and is led by the experienced and enthusiastic Assisstant Musical Director Geoff Warmington.There are two practice sessions each night. One group is for the absolute beginner, of any age. Basic skills in reading music and playing a brass instrument are taught. After learning to read music, identify notes and play basic scales players move into the Training Band.
The Training Band has members from 8 years old to 40+ years of age and currently numbers about 18 – 20 players. Some of the Main Band players help out, provide advice and pass on experience to beginners. Typically the Training Band plays simple music to get experience in reading music and playing together.
Once the Assistant Musical Director is happy with a player's progress and ability, then Training Band members may join the Main Band. Each year a trophy is awarded to the student who has progressed the most.
